RESULTS & FINDINGS
A recent comprehensive survey conducted by experts reveals a growing trend of homeschooling across the United States, driven by increasing concerns over school safety, particularly due to recurring school shootings. Parents aged between 35-55 years, with children either in school or soon to be enrolled, were surveyed to identify the number of parents considering or already committed to homeschooling and to uncover the reasons behind their decisions.
The study revealed that 11% of the surveyed parents are already homeschooling their children, while an additional 15% indicated plans to transition to homeschooling in the near future. The top reasons cited for choosing homeschooling are as follows:
·34% of parents have chosen homeschooling because of the safety issues in schools, such as school shootings, drugs, and negative peer pressure.
·12% of parents are keen on providing religious or moral instruction that aligns with their beliefs.
·17% of parents’ express dissatisfaction with the academic instruction.
·11% of parents desire a more personalized approach to education, tailored to their child's unique needs.

WHAT THE PEOPLE SAY
Discovering A Helping Hand Youth Center was the best decision my nephew and I could have made for his son. The Center not only focuses on education, it put emphasis on Mental Health and teaches the kids Life Skills. It has helped my nephew to open up and feel comfortable in discussing day to day issues. Ms. V provides that safe space for the kids. She teaches the needed skills that will be necessary in life as the kids become adults.
Mrs. V has patience like no other, to this day my son calls her when he is having a tough time with life in general and he’s 20. She is a Godsend.
~Ms. Williams
I am truly grateful to Mrs. V for how much attention AND intention she has put into Ja'Seim this school year. Her dedication and love for what she does makes her school so special and unique, I'm excited for next school year!
During the past two years since my daughter started AHYC in 2021/22, I have seen a drastic improvement in her academic performance. Her focus and confidence in what she is learning have improved. Her school experience isn't as demanding as it once was when she was in public school.
Now that she's entering high school with AHYC, she's excited for the future. Aside from being a wonderful teacher, Mrs. Davis is also a great life coach for her students. My favorite line of hers is "Everyone under her wins," and I truly believe this to be true for ALL of her students.

WHAT THE PEOPLE SAY
AHYC is hands down the best. Ms. V is hands down the most dedicated to her students. She’s very hands on and truly cares about her students and their families. She gives each student exactly what they need to advance and won’t hesitate to stay on their level to help build their confidence to move on. She so dedicated, that she lets you know upfront that at AHYC your entire home will be involved because homeschooling is not just for the student, we all learn!

AHYC changed the game for my family,
Mrs. V gave my son the confidence and love for learning and he hasn’t looked back since. He came to her in the 6th grade on 3rd grade level. Mrs. V worked with him and rode his back while making learning creative and fun so that he would find the love for learning. My God, he finished strong with her at the age of 17 and now has his bachelors degree in Business Management and owns his own business (that Mrs. V helped him start as well). We owe her everything!
~Mrs. Smith
In 2019 our family made the biggest leap of faith and took our then third grader from the public school system and placed her in AHYC. Our daughter had experienced bullying and continued to evaluate just below the proficiency marker for reading. Mrs. V created a comprehensive curriculum and went to work. Within weeks, our child’s confidence, reading fluency, and self-esteem had improved. It was clear that as a family, we made the right choice. Throughout our journey in AHYC, we watched our once timid little girl blossom into a critical and free thinker. Mrs.V imparted wisdom, business sense, and savvy. By the fifth grade, our daughter was the owner and operator of her own business. On an annual basis, Mrs. V updated and refined our child’s personalized curriculum that gave our her the ability to increase social emotional intelligence, enterprising spirit, ability to think through complex situations, solve mathematic equations, read fluently, comprehend complex texts, and most importantly self esteem and worth. Our daughter’s time at AHYC was invaluable. This school year she attended the eighth grade in another school system. School administrators were shocked when we disclosed that she had been homeschooled for the past 5 years as she was able to quickly transition in the school community. Our child has been able to not just academically compete with her peers but in many cases, it has been clear that her homeschool education has given her the edge to outperform peers who had only been educated within the traditional school system. As a family, we stand in agreement that attending and fully immersing ourselves within the homeschool culture has not only exceeded our expectations but met our need. We will forever be indebted to Mrs. V and the AHYC. Thank you for helping to build what others could not see!
